Trailblazer: Nia B.

I love contributing to society and making the world a better place.

My name is Nia B. I am a total extrovert who loves singing and math. I live in Belize, which is south of Mexico. I have lived here for 12 years. My hobbies are volleyball, playing the piano and ukulele, song/poem-writing, chess, and photography. I have a small cupcake business at my house and I sell cupcakes on holidays. I have been playing volleyball for a little over two years and I love it. It’s a great team of girls, and we have lots of fun. This year I will be taking three music exams; I will be examined by someone from England for theory, piano, and voice.

I am in 10th grade and attend a Christian school where I am the only Bahá’í there. In addition to playing volleyball, I do track and field, particularly long jump and 100m dash. My college dream is take after my father and attend Stanford. Even though I don't know exactly what career I want to pursue, I take every opportunity so that I can try many things.

I am in two junior youth groups run by my mother, and I have a lot of awesome friends there. We do a lot of service projects such as highway cleanups and we have even been featured on the local news. I assist my [junior youth group] animator with teaching a children's class every week and I also volunteer regularly for my city's Humane Society. I have a miniature Schnauzer named Milo, who is four, and I love dogs. Overall, I love contributing to society and making the world a better place.
