Trailblazer: Tiernan C.

I enjoy singing, acting, Broadway, drawing, animating, and playing video games. I am also a Boy Scout.

Hi, my name is Tiernan, and I am 16 years old. I live in Connecticut, U.S. I have a younger brother and sister, a dog named Sylvie, and two loving parents! I enjoy singing, acting, Broadway, drawing, animating, and playing video games. I play the piano, violin, and ukulele. I have recently taken an interest in animation in the form of LEGO stop-motion. I am also a member of Boy Scouts of America. I learn so much about survival skills and service to others by being a scout.

I also grew up at Green Acre Bahá'í School in Eliot, Maine, until I was three years old. I learned so much about ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s visit there. The best part about living there was that I loved meeting people from all over the world. It was a great learning experience living amongst such diversity. I still go back to Green Acre for the annual summer Camp Green Acre.

After Hurricane Harvey hit the Houston, Texas, area in August 2017, Tiernan and his family spent a month collecting supplies and boxing them up to send to hurricane victims. He and his brother, Aakhil, stand ready to ship the finished boxes.

I am also the founder of a charity. In 2016, my family and I went to serve the homeless in Hartford, where I was talking to a man who told me about his life on the streets. That made me want to help. I talked to my parents, and we started Hartford Bags of Love. We make bags for the less fortunate that include basic, essential items like a toothbrush, toothpaste, and deodorant. We also include granola bars and bottles of water for sustenance and make handmade cards to wish them well.

I have gotten so much support from so many people, including my local Bahá’í community, people from our neighborhood, our town council, the mayor, and state representatives. A few news stations have also contributed to my charity. The local newspapers and magazines like The American Bahá'í and Brilliant Star have helped me spread the word about our cause. We hope to help as many people as we can and also inspire others to do the same.

Tiernan graduated from elementary school in June 2018.

I entered middle school in September 2018 and am excited to start my acting career in middle school, as I am passionate about performing arts and musicals. There are great adventures ahead of me!
