Shine Ye

In this Bahá’í Blog Studio Session, sisters Devina and Raneesha Saberi sing “Shine Ye,” based on an excerpt by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.

Devina and Raneesha started singing together from a really young age. Devina says, “Our parents have always loved music and wanted it to play a significant role in our lives, especially mum, who literally sang to her stomach while pregnant. When we were growing up, she always encouraged us to harmonise along with her when she sang prayers and songs. I remember one time when we drove 10 hours from our hometown to Sydney, we spent the vast majority of the trip playing and replaying a particular song, trying to get the harmonies right.”

Devina is currently studying a law degree at university, and Raneesha plans to study something in a similar area when she finishes high school. They hope to create careers of service to other people. Devina says, “No matter what we do professionally, we definitely want music will play a big part of our lives.”

Here is the quote, followed by the lyrics with the chords:

“Shine ye like unto the sun and roar and move like unto the sea; impart life to mountain and desert like unto clouds, and similar to the vernal breeze, bestow freshness, grace and elegance on the trees of human temples.” -‘Abdu’l-Bahá

and similar to the vernal breeze, bestow
freshness, grace and elegance
