Bahá’ís Believe: Developing Virtues Is a Life Journey

Every day, you face challenges large and small. When you run into a bully, you may wish for the power of invisibility or flight. But you do have superpowers that can help—courage and wisdom.

Your journey through life brings lots of opportunities to develop virtues, and theyare like superpowers. You can use them to help make the world a better place. Finding a lost wallet gives you a chance to exercise your honesty. A tough school project can boost your creativity. When you help friends resolve a conflict on the soccer field, you’re using unity and peacefulness.

There’s no limit to the virtues you can develop. And you’ll even use them beyond your earthly life. The Bahá’í writings say you’ll need your virtues after you die, as your soul continues to live and advance.

How do you get your superpowers? You don’t need a cape or a wand. Try praying, meditating, and reading holy writings. And your powers get stronger when you put them into action. The Bahá’í writings say, “Be as a lamp shining forth with the light of the virtues of the world of humanity.”

One awesome thing about building spiritual powers is that everyone can do it together. Someday, we’ll have a planet where everyone is a superhero.
