Bahá’ís Believe: Education For All
What if you had to quit school to work and help support your family? For about 57 million kids, education is out of reach. Many have no schools or teachers nearby. Others can’t afford school, or they have to get jobs instead.
Bahá’ís believe that everyone has the right to get an education, and it’s essential for all people to be educated. Many people have been working around the world to build schools and train teachers. Still, much needs to be done for everyone to have access to education.
With education, our human family can work together to make life better for everyone. Skills in reading, writing, and math help people get jobs and end poverty. They can learn about religion by reading sacred writings and prayers for themselves. And learning about other cultures can even help stop prejudice by changing unfair ideas about others.
In some places, girls don’t have the same opportunities to go to school that boys do. The Bahá’í Faith says that education is especially important for girls, since many will become mothers and be the first teachers of their own kids. When kids everywhere have a fair chance to learn, we can create a more just and peaceful world.
